Fall is the most beautiful season to visit the up-east Vermont communities. Soft yellows, vibrant reds, and varying oranges cover the hillsides and hang over the roadways in a tunnel of color. The sounds and smells of the autumn season are unlike any other - there is a crispness to the air with a hint of drying or burning leaves. It is fun to shuffle through the fallen leaves and hear the swish swish on the hiking trails. The byways are busy with "leaf peepers" and "shutter bugs." This is the perfect time of year for moose viewing and the Up-East Vermont Chamber’s service area is renowned for its moose and deer population. A stop along the way at the foliage and harvest festivals, farmer’s markets, pumpkin fest days, church and game suppers. Arrange for a hayride or tackle a corn maze. Enjoy the state’s most rural and most beautiful area in the most rural, beautiful and celebrated season.
